ADMISSIONS
PROCESS

SJS is no ordinary school. It is the diocesan seminary for the Diocese of Bangued - the seedbed of discerning priestly vocation. Its specific and primary purpose is to help boys who show initial signs of priestly vocation, to recognize God's call more clearly, and to respond to it more generously. Hence those who are accepted and formed are boys who have intellectual, moral, spiritual, and physical qualities in the hope of becoming diocesan priest for Abra. 

​GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must:​
  1. be a baptized Catholic.
  2. have a sincere interest to the priesthood.
  3. be physically and emotionally fit.
  4. must pass the St. Joseph Seminary Admission Test (SJS-AT) and Interviews

St. Joseph Seminary only opens admission for Grades 7, 8, 9 and 11.
  • For Grade 7: He must have completed Elementary or is officially enrolled as Grade 6 at the time of application.
  • For Grade 8: He must have completed Grade 7 or is officially enrolled as Grade 7 at the time of application.
  • For Grade 9: He must have completed Grade 8 or is officially enrolled as Grade 8 at the time of application.
  • For Grade 11: He must have completed Junior High School or is officially enrolled as Grade 10 at the time of application.

PRELIMINARY REQUIREMENTS

The applicant must prepare the following preliminary requirements to be submitted during the day of examination:
  1. Letter of Permission to take the test from Parish Priest
  2. Letter of recommendation from School Head
  3. Photocopy of recent grades
  4. 2 pcs. 2x2 pictures
  5. Accomplished Application Form to be submitted on the day of the examination.

TESTING AND INTERVIEW

  1. ​Applicants are expected at the seminary at 8:30 in the morning.
  2. The St. Joseph Seminary Admission Test (SJS-AT) consists of written and oral examinations. 
  3. A testing fee of Php 150.00 shall be collected.
  4. It is most recommended that applicants must bring their lunch/snacks.
  5. Only applicants who pass the Admission Test will be called for the interview.​

CONFIRMATION

The merit of application shall be based on the result of examinations and the interviews. Applicants who passed the screening process will be notified via email/text message. It shall also be announced through the radio and through our website and social media accounts.
